Emulate Games from other Consoles
Many of my favorite games were on N64 and Super Nintendo. I remember staying up many late nights when I was younger playing some of those games. My mother, screaming for us to get to bed. My brother and I always played fighting games and he would kick my butt every time. Maybe I could master those old games and invite him over for a beating! Oh, and how could I forget those old classic side scrollers! Some Wii mods even claimed to have Sega Genesis gaming abilities. It sounded to could to be true!
Media Player
I could basically turn my Wii into a home media center! It’s true! I was pumped to start watching the many movies I’d been collecting over the years in various media formats. They wouldn’t have to sit around and collect dust anymore. Heck Yeah! Not to mention I could eliminate the need to constantly lug my heavy stereo up and down the steps. I’d just turn my Wii into a DJ machine! My girlfriend unfortunately lost her ipod at the airport a few weeks earlier so I knew she’d be happy to know she could jam to the Wii when doing her workouts at home. If it makes her happy, I’m happy.
Homebrew Applications
This, to me was the most fascinating aspect of most wii mods. This gave me the ability to run software and other awesome software designed by smaller or independent software developers. Some of the cool things were an alarm clock, strobe light, and recipes to name a few. For more tech savvy people there is even an FTP client. How cool is that? Even a text file editor, kind of like making your Wii a computer! The best part is that there are thousands of developers out there so the future will only bring tons of new possibilities.
Here are thе simple instructions οn hοw tο mod and unlock your nintendo wii without using a modchip:
What is a Soft Mod?
Softmodding іѕ one of the few methods used to mod your Nintendo wii. It is done by simply placing software on an SD card and putting into your wii.
1. SD Cards
Thеѕе cards аrе found in a few places. It’s possible that your cell phone or camera has an SD card in it. The wii will then require that SD card to remain inside the wii SD slot every time the console it played or for reading, so make sure you own one yourself.
2. DVDs or External Hard-Drive
You can pretty much use any format DVD! You will then be burning that DVD in your DVD burner. Your computer probably already has one. Then just download some free DVD burning software found anywhere online (if your pc doesn’t already have any).
You can also use a thumb drive, flash stick, or external hard drive to install the software.
3. Unlock Software
This is the software I used to unlock my wii. Just download the files and put them on your SD card or external disk
My Conclusion
There are so many other things I didn’t even mention that you can do. I’m totally glad I looked into different types of wii mods! I have been playing all day long. Let me tell you, Unlocking my wii was the best thing I could do. The mod only took a little bit of research, and a few simple steps! So my suggestion is if you were in the same boat as I was- yawning over my Wii’s limitations, then I’d say go for it!
